Transform Multicolor Floor Lamp with NeoPixel LEDs and the WLED Open Source Firmware on ANAVI Miracle Emitter with ESP32-C3

In this project, I demonstrate how to convert a low-cost multicolor floor lamp into a smart, remote-controlled lighting device using open-source software and hardware. The centerpiece of the transformation is WLED, a powerful open-source firmware that enables control of NeoPixel-compatible LEDs like WS2811, WS2812B, and TM1809. WLED runs on both ESP32 and ESP8266 microcontrollers and includes a local HTTP server with a sleek web interface, making it easy to manage lighting effects from a smartphone, tablet, or computer connected to the same network.

To modernize the lamp, I replaced its original hardware - which relied on a basic remote control and a CR2032 battery - with the ANAVI Miracle Emitter, an open-source IoT development board specifically designed for controlling addressable RGB LEDs. At the heart of the board is the XIAO ESP32C3, a compact, RISC-V-based microcontroller. The setup integrates seamlessly with Home Assistant, opening the door to advanced smart home automation, voice control, and a range of dynamic lighting effects.

What makes the ANAVI Miracle Emitter especially appealing for DIY enthusiasts is its versatility. Besides controlling NeoPixel LEDs, it supports various I2C sensors and even features a mini OLED display for additional functionality. I designed the PCB using KiCad, a popular open-source electronics design suite, ensuring that the entire stack ? from firmware to hardware ? remains open and accessible.

This exciting project will soon be available through a crowdfunding campaign on Crowd Supply. If you are interested in bringing more smart lighting projects to life, or just want to tinker with innovative IoT tech, keep an eye on the ANAVI Miracle Emitter.
