Install Ubuntu 24.04 LTS Linux Distribution on a PC like ThinkPad T490 Laptop

Ubuntu is one of the most popular Linux distributions, first released in 2004 by Canonical. It is based on Debian and has become a major player in the Linux ecosystem, with a market share of around 30% among Linux desktop users. A new Long-Term Support (LTS) release is released every two years, with the latest being Ubuntu 24.04 Noble Numbat. The next LTS is expected around April 2026. Linux itself, originally created by Linus Torvalds in 1991, powers a significant portion of servers, embedded systems, and even Android devices.

This video tutorial provides a step-by-step guide on installing Ubuntu 24.04 LTS on a PC with an Intel or AMD CPU using a USB stick. The installation was performed on a Lenovo ThinkPad T490 laptop with a single SSD, but the process is nearly identical for other laptops and desktops. The only notable difference might be the key combination required to access the temporary boot menu, which depends on the system?s firmware.

Once the installation is complete, Ubuntu 24.04 LTS offers a stable and secure environment with long-term support, making it a great choice for both new and experienced Linux users.
