Low-cost Mini-360 Voltage Adjustable DC-DC Step-down Voltage Regulator for DIY Enthusiasts

Mini-360 is an ultra small and very cheap adjustable DC to DC step-down voltage regulator. It has been on the market for several years and there are several hardware version which rely on different switching voltage regulator chips from Monolithic Power Systems (MPS). The older models use MP2307DN. The newer models use MP1482DS. There is a potentiometer to adjust the output voltage.

In the video I used Mini 360 to convert 12V DC power supply to 6V DC and to power an old JBL micro on stage speaker. Please note, that this is a step-down voltage regulator so the input voltage must be greater than the expected output voltage. After that I conducted a comprehensive test of the speaker on a Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga, seamlessly integrated with a Thunderbolt 4 docking station, running the Ubuntu Linux distribution.

Technical specifications

  • Input voltage: 4.75V-23V
  • Output voltage: 1.0V-17V
